Northside

Northside view of the mountains

The north side of Santa Fe offers the best in luxury, beauty, and tranquility. From your home, you are invited to enjoy the extraordinary vistas of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east, the stretching Tesuque Valley to the north, and sweeping views of the sunset over the Jemez Mountains in the west. The northside is the perfect place to stretch out and settle in a home with some elbow room.

The Homes

There are several neighborhoods and communities available to reside north of Santa Fe. Some of the better know places people settle is Mansion Ridge Rd., Governor Dempsey Dr., Circle Drive, and Brownell Howland. Most of the homes on these streets feature the typical adobe highlights found in many Santa Fe homes, and you will also find large lots of land at about 1 to 2 acres a piece. If you need room to live or settle a family, you'll be right at home in the northside.

Sangre de Cristo Mountains

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are known as one of the longest mountain chains on the planet. Ten peaks have been measured over 14,000 feet in the range, in addition to more than 24 over 13,000 feet. The mountains span from Poncha Pass in Colorado to Glorieta Pass in New Mexico.

Tesuque Valley

Pressed close to the foothills of Santa Fe’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Tesuque Valley was first occupied by an ancient tribe of Pueblo Indians. Tewa-speaking people grew corn, squash, and beans in fields that they used the river to irrigate. They also gathered pinon nuts in the hills as well as hunted deer and small game in the mountain forests.

Jemez Mountains

The Jemez Mountains form the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains which stretch north over 2,000 miles and into Canada. They contain no significant natural landmarks, but they do have a large area of mostly undisturbed forested wilderness and natural beauty with the occasional house or village. Because the Jemez Mountains are a volcanic field you can find hot springs, sulfurous vents and a caldera due to the area's past volcanic activity.
